WISTCA Business Meeting

  1. Mark Maas presided over the meeting and brought the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

 

  1. Power Ranking Awards—Randy Marks and Jason McMahon presented the awards to the following schools:

It was noted that there was a decline in participation across the board.  Congratulations to all teams and coaches for your accomplishments.

 

  1. Learn By Doing Clinics—WISTCA promotes clinics around the state.  There have been new clinics in Wausau and Merrill for northern athletes.  Check the WISTCA website for dates and locations for a clinic near you.

 

  1. Senior Spotlight Meet—Bill DeVoe asked that any coaches who have athletes who are interested in participating contact in event chairs.  If you are unsure of the event chairs they are located on the website.  Uniforms will be updated this year.

 

  1.  Randy Marks made comments regarding an advisory vote on a True Team Championship.  These comments were not authorized by WISTCA, nor is the advisory vote.  The proposal called for a ”Super Sectional” on the normal Regional date and a True Team Meet on the Friday following the Super Sectional.  State individual qualifiers would come from the Super Sectional.

 

  1. National Senate Issues—Mark Hoffman share that there are 30 states involved in the senate.  Representatives from Wisconsin run the meeting.  The USTFCA has a separate membership which includes a quarterly newsletter.  This membership fee made be included to all WISTCA members pending guarantees from the national group.  They are running elite camps for track athletes and some Wisconsin coaches have participated in these camps.  WISTCA will assist in picking up most expenses for coaches who represent the Association.  Level 1 coaching education programs will go online in the future.

 

  1. Elections—The following coaches were nominated for the President-Elect position:  Mike Chapes, Mike Olson and Brad Meixner.  Mike Chapes was elected to this position.  Elections were held in the odd numbered districts:

District #1        To be appointed by the President

District #3        Shawn Moretti              Black River Falls HS

District #5        Todd Bastian                Darlington HS

District #7        Todd Irvine                  Milw. Lutheran HS

 

Congratulations for the new officers and members of the Executive Committee.  Thank you to Mark Hoffman (Past President); and Darin Shepardson and Eric Rolland for your past service to WISTCA.

 

  1. Mark Maas passed the gavel to Kieth Klestinski, who will take over as the new president.  Thank 

you to Mark for your leadership and energy while serving as president for the past two years.  “It’s another great day for track and field in Wisconsin”.

 

  1. The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
