National Pole Vault Certification Program

Please note that the Pole Vault Safety Certification Board web site is now fully operational for the purpose of offering national pole vault certification for both coaches and athletes.

The course is formatted to help novice coaches and athletes understand the basic concepts of safety and skills for efficient vaulting.  “We feel that any teacher, parent or student, could take the course and follow its framework and understand the basics of safe, efficient vaulting.  I think the online educational impact of this effort is perfect for the education of both coaches and athletes.”  According to Jan Johnson Co-director of PVSCB.

The basic curriculum is as follows:

1.  National HS Rules

2.  Pole Vault Safety

3.  Pole Vault Energy Equation

4.  Basic Skills and Progressions

Each of the four sections is followed by a multiple choice / true-false test pertaining specifically to the materials covered within the section.  The questions are selected randomly from a database of questions pertaining to that individual section.  The applicants must get 80% correct on the test to pass to the next section.  The questions for each section are given in groups of ten.  The test is open book.

When the applicant passes all four sections, he or she will receive a certification card and a copy of the 2003 National HS rulebook.

The price of the course is $20.
