Chrisie Wright-Colby School District

President

Chrisie has been a high school physical and health education teacher for Colby since 2002, also taking on a few middle school classes.  She started her track coaching career in the middle school program and then took on the head boys and girls coach role in 2004.  Currently, she works with the high jump, hurdles, and sprints.  Chrisie is also the head middle school volleyball coach.  

 

Chrisie, and her husband Kevin, love to spend their free time enjoying the great outdoors.  Their children have paws; two beagles, Maya and Toby.  Kevin and his family, have a house in the mountains of western Wyoming, not too far from Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.  They spend as much time there as they can, with their favorite hobby being back country snowmobile riding.  They both like to hunt and ride Harley; traveling into Canada and the western mountains on them.  They also love horseback riding, whether around the midwest or the mountains!   Chrisie loves taking her bike for a long day drive exploring parts Wisconsin when she's not with her dogs, horses or gardening.

Owen Jarrette has been a head track & field coach in Wisconsin since 2007. He is currently a head coach at Greendale High School, previously Muskego HS.  He works primarily with sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers. Before coaching, he was a football player and decathlete at Principia College in Elsah, IL and a 3-sport athlete at Nevada Union HS in Grass Valley, CA.

Owen currently teaches Physical Education, Health, and Specially Designed PE in the Greendale School District.  During the summer, he coaches club track and field for ages 5 and up.  Owen, his wife Lara, and daughter Sadie love spending time at Star Lake in northern WI.  Favorite activities include fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, biking, metal detecting, scuba diving, sailing, and boating.

Mike Price is the Past-President and Fundraising Coordinator for the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association.  Mike began coaching track and field in 1999 and is currently teaching Special Education in the Watertown School District and is the Sprints Coach at Watertown High School. He has been involved with WISTCA since 2003 serving first as the high jump chair before moving into the role of Fundraising Coordinator and then President in 2022.  Mike also assists in activities related to planning the annual clinic.

Mike is a native of Green Bay and went on to compete at UW-Stevens Point in track and field and cross country.  Mike and his wife Sheila have one daughter, Meghan.  Mike is an avid Packers fan and season ticket holder.  Mike enjoys kayaking, biking, camping,  snowmobiling, and racing high speed go-karts.

Mark Hoffman

Treasurer and Clinic Co-Director

Mark Hoffman has been the Head Boys Track and Field Coach, assistant Football Coach and mathematics teacher at South Milwaukee High School since 1990.  His teams have won a total of 13 conference championships and he has been fortunate to coach four individual state champions.

Mark has served WISTCA in several capacities.  He was a District VII Rep (1996-2000), President-Elect (2000-2002), and President (2002-2004).  He currently serves as Clinic Co-Chair (2001-present) and Treasurer (2010-present).  Mark has also served as the Executive Chair of the National Senate of High School Track Coaches Associations and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of that association. 
 
Mark is the father of four children (Ben, Jenny, Molly, Christopher).  Being a math teacher and a track coach, Mark uses the following formula to calculate how many years he has been happily married to his very understanding wife, Diane:  Years of wedded bliss = Number of WISTCA Clinics - 2.  You do the math.

Kari Krakow has coached Track and Cross Country since 2006 at Portage High School. Kari is the WISTCA Secretary and the women4women coordinator. 

A native of Columbus, she works at CESA 5 as a Lead Infinite Campus Trainer for Wisconsin.  She and her husband Chris are the proud parents of Alex, their Fox Red Labrador.

Awards Chairman

Joe Hackbarth started coaching Track and Field at La Crosse Logan HS in 1994 as a sprint assistant coach..  One year later he began a seven year stint as the LJ/TJ coach at Logan working with both the boys and girls programs.  In 2002 Joe became the Head Boys coach at Logan, primarily working with the sprinters and sprint relay teams - and sorting through the mountains of paperwork associated with the Head Coaching position.
 

A native of Oconomowoc, Joe and his wife Heidi have two sons, Andrew and Jacob.  The family makes many road trips around the state throughout the year to attend sporting events and enjoy numerous "weekend get-away's" - with Door County as their favorite location.  

Joe's duties with the Association include being the District III rep (west-central Wisconsin) and helping coordinate the Boys Power Rankings.

John Masanz

Coach Masanz is the Head Girls’ Track and Field coach at Wausau West High School. Masanz has taught English at Wausau West since 1998 and currently is the Department Chair of English. During this time, he has also served WISTCA as the District 2 Rep for four terms.

Previously Coach Masanz taught and coached at Edgar High School. He lives in Wausau with his wife Trish and their three children: Anthony, Grace and Ian. As a hobbyist, Masanz enjoys fishing smallmouth bass and painting houses.
