Peter Delzer - Carroll College

The conclusion of the 2021-2022 season marks Pete Delzer’s sixth season with the Pioneers after joining Carroll University’s track & field staff in the summer of 2016 as the program's first full-time assistant. In 2020 Delzer was promoted to Associate Head Men’s and Women’s track and field coach. In addition to his role with the Carroll track & field program, Delzer is also a Human Performance coach in the athletic department.

In his six seasons with the Pioneers, Delzer has molded the Carroll throwers into one of the premier Track & Field event groups in NCAA Division III. In 2022, Delzer guided Emily Uitenbroek (Hammer Throw) and Steven Hermsen (Discus) to both repeat as NCAA national Champions. At the national level, Delzer lead athletes have won 4 NCAA Championships, 10 All-American honors, and 18 NCAA National Qualifying Performances.
In 2022, Delzer was selected as the USTFCCCA Women’s National Assistant Coach of the year and North Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the year. In 2021, he was also selected the Men’s Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the year by the USTFCCCA. Other coaching accomplishments at Carroll University include 4 CCIW Field Athletes of year, 12 CCIW Conference Champions, 77 All-Conference honors, and a total of 39 school record-breaking performances.

Before joining the Pioneers staff, Delzer had successful coaching stints at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Delzer spent the 2014-2015 season as the head throws and assistant strength & conditioning coach at the University Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He guided the throws team to multiple top-five performances, a school record in the men’s weight throw, a Horizon League discus champion, as well as coaching the first thrower in program history to qualify for the NCAA Division 1 West Regional meet.

The Oconto Falls, Wis. native began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Delzer oversaw strength & conditioning and practice programs for the track & field throws team. During the 2013-2014 season, Delzer coached ten NCAA All-Americans, two NCAA National champions, and five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions.

Delzer is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Strength & Conditioning. He received his master’s degree in Education from Carroll University. He also holds USTFCCCA Throwing Event Specialist and USATF Level 2 Throws Coach certifications. Delzer is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, a USA Weightlifting Level 2 Coach, and a USTFCCCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach. 

At UWO, Delzer was one of the most decorated student-athletes to ever compete in track and field at the Division III level. In his four years, he achieved twelve NCAA All-American awards (6 SP, 3 WT, 2 HT, 1 DT) and three NCAA National titles (2 WT, 1 HT) in the throwing events. Delzer captained the Titan track & field team as a junior & senior. Other accolades include four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference titles, a member of five teams finishing in the top four at the NCAA Championships, and in 2012 was voted Midwest field athlete of the year. In 2016, Delzer qualified and placed ninth in the weight throw at the 2016 USA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.
