Brooke Jaworski (Wausau West)
Wausau West Junior, Brooke Jaworski, continued her stellar high school career in 2018. During the indoor season, she set the facility record for high school females in the 400 at the SPIRE Institute during the SPIRE Scholastic Showcase. She followed that up with an 8th place finish at the New Balance Indoor Nationals at The Armory in New York City. Once Brooke started running outside, and the WIAA Tournament series began, there was a lot to be excited about. Competing in Division 1, she placed fifth in the Long Jump with a distance of 18’7.75”. Later in the meet she helped her teammates to a fifth place 4 x 400 finish. It was in her two individual runs that Brooke wowed Veterans’ Memorial Stadium. First in her specialty, the 400, she earned her third consecutive championship with a time of 53.75. Brooke then showed her considerable talents as an athlete and competed in a new event to her, the 300 Low Hurdles. After running the event only five times, she placed first with record time of 41.40. Congratulations to Brooke Jaworski of Wausau West High for being named the 2018 WISTCA Female Athlete of the Year.
