Meet some of WISTCA's Powerful Women...

Bios below

Joy A. M. Bastian

Joy has been coaching cross country since 2008 and track since 2009 at Gilbralter High School in Fish Creek.  She is the head coach and oversees the distance, middle distance and throwing events. 

She is from From Princeton, WI and attended Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. Earned BA in music with a minor in theatre arts. She competed in 11 seasons of cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field (missed one season to study abroad), was all conference four times. Earned Masters of Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2016.

Sara Bradley

Sara Bradley has been coaching track since 2005.  She is the head coach for both boys and girls, but specifically works with the sprints, relays and horizontal jumps at Campbellsport High School. 

Sara grew up in Pickett, Wi, attended Oshkosh West High School and ran cross country and track for two wonderful coaches (i's where she got her love of running from). She did her undergraduate work at Luther Collage and also ran XC and Track for three years while there. Sara completed her graduate work at the University of Minnesota earning her M.ED in Sports Administration. She has been teaching Health and Physical Education for 11 years.  Lastly, she has a very active 12 year old son who she is always running to practice, games and meets.

Sharon Fritz

Sharon is the girls' Head Coach track coach at Monona Grove High School. She specializes in both Long and Triple Jump as well as the sprinting events.

She has coached jumps at her high school's summer camp from 2006-2009 while in college. Sharon has coached high school track each season since 2010 and has been at Monona Grove since 2011. She currently doesn't coach other sports, but maybe in the future! :)

Sharon is  from Arlington Heights, IL and went to college at Marquette University where she was able to compete as a long/triple jumper and short sprinter for four years. She moved to Madison shortly after and has been teaching English and coaching track at Monona Grove since. In her spare time, she enjoys playing volleyball (and other sports), learning guitar, attempting some DIY home projects, and spending time with her husband and friends.

Jen Grabarski

Jen grew up in Waunakee and then went on to UW Eau Claire and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She was on the Track & Field team at Eau Claire and competed as a sprinter for the team.  Jen also went on to receive a second Bachelors degree at UW Madison in Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education. She met her husband, Brian when back visiting Waunakee High school and they have 3 very active children and are living in Waunakee. Jen is also a Physical education teacher at Waunakee Middle school and the Head Track & Field Coach at the High school for both the boys and girls teams. Jen is a N.A.S.M. Certified personal trainer and has worked at harbor part time for the last 12 years. She enjoys working 1 on 1 with all different types of people and has taught a variety of different classes. Jen loves creating workouts that will work with all the different types of people. Everyone can find something that works for them, the challenge is to figure out what that is for each individual!

Rita Jasurda

Rita has been coaching at D.C. Everest since 2005.  She specializes in the girls hurdles and high jump. 

She received her undergrad from UWSP with majors in Biology and Spanish, Masters in Technology Ed. From Marian University; Spanish teacher, Varsity Volleyball Coach, Asst. Track Coach, road biker, slow runner, cross country skier, mother of 6 wonderful young adults, dog lover, wife. 

Kari Krakow

Kari Krakow has coached Track and Cross Country since 2006 at Portage High School.  Kari is the WISTCA Secretary and the High Jump Chair for the Senior Spotlight meet.

Kari grew up in Columbus Wisconsin and ran for both Floyd Ripp and Marlin Hensler. After high school she attended the Univeristy of Wisconsin Milwaukee and competed in both cross country and track. She currently works at CESA 5 as a Lead Infinite Campus Trainer for Wisconsin.  Besides her love of coaching, Kari enjoys yard work, eating cheese, teaching Spin and competing in triathlons. She has completed 3 Ironman triathlons. She and her husband Chris are the proud parents of Spike, their barrel cactus. 

Amber Lattner

Amber is one of our main contacts with the Missouri Institute of Positive Coaching. 

Amber coaches the mental game!

She was a soccer player at Notre Dame, where she led Notre Dame Christian Athletes and graduated with a degree in Management Consulting. She went on to work in corporate America right after undergrad before realizing her heart was still in athletics. She then returned to get advanced degrees Sport Psychology, completing her master's at the Univ of Denver, and will graduate in December with her doctorate from Mizzou! She has an awesome Doberman named Rockne, and they live in South Bend, IN, just across from ND's campus. Through her consulting company, the Lattner Performance Group, she helps athletic teams, businesses, and individuals harness the power of Mindset and Leadership to driving lasting change and optimize performance. Her passion is to help people Build Championship Mindsets in everything they do in life!

Miranda Walker

Miranda is another main contact for the WISTCA Women4Women at the Missouri Institute of Positive Coaching. 

She was born and raised in the great state of Texas, and is the youngest of three. Miranda grew up playing a variety of sports, but quickly realized her true passion for distance running. She was fortunate enough to be able to run cross country and track for the University of Arkansas and earn her BA in psychology. Through her college coach, she met Coach McGuire, head track coach at the University of Missouri at the time, and went on to pursue her graduate work in sport psychology. She is currently a graduate student at this time, and helps out with cross country and track and field at the University of Missouri as well as works with the Women's soccer team on mental performance. In her free time, she likes to run (although not so fast these days :P), read, hang out at local coffee shops with friends, and play with my dog, Lola.

 

Jayme Wyss

Jayme has been coaching volleyball and track since 2011. She is currently is at Three Lakes high school and specialized in pole vault, distance & high jump. 

She is a 2010 Concordia St. Paul graduate and former college pole vaulter (She still pole vaults for fun and even cleared 11'6" at a meet this summer!). Started triathlons in 2010, and just competed on Team USA at the 2016 Cozumel World Championships for triathlon (Olympic distance). Jayme is a ,om to a 3.5 year old, 1.5 year old, and have a 3rd on the way! She coach Track with my husband of 8 years, who is the Head Coach, and wouldn't have it any other way!
